HC Football draws Ballard in first round of State Tournament
The HC Football Team knows the road they must travel in order to keep their season alive. The Devils were seeded to play Ballard High School in Louisville next Friday. A win would equal a date with either Oldham or Scott County in the second round. Gametime is 7:30 pm on Friday, November 4.
HC Volleyball ends state tournament with 2-0 loss to #1 Assumption
It was a gloomy day at Bellarmine University today as the top-seed Assumption Rockets put away the #4 Henry Clay Blue Devils in the Quarterfinals of the 2011 KHSAA State Volleyball Tournament. The Lady Devils fell behind early, losing the first set 25-8. The second half was slightly more competitive, but in the end, the Rockets rolled beating Henry Clay by a final score of 25-8, 25-17. The Devils exit the tournament after upsetting #2 Mercy in the opening round. HC's Jordan Strickland was named to the State All-Tournament Team.

HC Volleyball Upsets #2 Mercy
After what was conceived as a near impossible draw, the HC Girls Volleyball team is one win away from the semifinals and a favorable draw to a state title game. Henry Clay pulled a shocking 2-0 upset over the #2 ranked Our Lady of Mercy Academy on Friday. This was sweet revenge after Mercy swept HC 3-0 on home soil during the regular season. HC now faces their toughest battle of the season, a rematch with #1 Asssumption on Saturday. The winner will likely be the favorite to raise the trophy at Bellarmine University in Louisville.
HCMSA continues repeat tourney run with emphatic win over Dunbar
The HCMSA is now two games away from a second consecutive state title. The Devils capped their sectional campaign with a 1-0 win over rival Dunbar. The goal was credited to Thomas Euland, who tapped in the winning goal with about 20 minutes raining after a pile up in the Dunbar Penalty Area. The HC students stormed the field afterwards, capping another monumental night. The Devils play St. Xavier in the semifinals at Dunbar on Spetember 2 at 8pm. The other semifinal is Ryle vs Henderson County.

HC Football wins again on the road
A stunning end of game move saw HC get its second win of the season on Thursday at Madison Central. After scoring to make the game nearly level in the dying seconds of the game, Madison Central chose to go for the win on the two point conversion rather then kick the PAT for overtime. Thanks to some stellar coverage, however, the HC secondary was able to tip the ball out of bounds. This secured a 28-27 Devil road victory. The Devils move to 2-5, with playoffs still a possibility.
HC Volleyball drops hard fought match in front of packed student section
It was a volleyball match that had it all. A #2 ranked private school who hadn't lost a game to a public school ever versus the highest ranked public school with one of the craziest student section turnouts of the year. This included 2 separate body painting jobs, a school wide T-shirt campaign, and the attention of almost a third of the student body. After all the hype put into the match, and rightfully so, the Devils simply couldn't get the needed breaks to stay in the match.
Our Lady of Mercy High School silenced the crowd early by winning two challenging sets. After that, HC sturggled to keep pace, and Mercy ran away with the third set, sweeping the Devils 3-0.
This goes down as the Devils' 7th loss of the season. Their 28-7 record is the best in the region with two games to play.
HC is home against North Oldham on October 4, and on the road at St. Henry on October 6. After that, the battle to make another state tournament begins.

Homecoming not sweet for Henry Clay Football
A dream night to win a football homecoming game for Henry Clay slowly became a nightmare on Friday night against city rival Lafayette. After a scoreless first quarter, Lafayettte snatched a 7-0 lead right before halftime. After the halftime homecoming festivities, the scoring drought continued for the Devils. With just under eight minutes left in regulation, HC were looking at a golden opportunity to level the score. However, on first and goal, the Devils lost possession on fumble. The Generals of Lafayette eventually tacked on another score to take a 14-0 win. The homecoming loss drops the Devils to 1-5. HC travels to Madison Central on Thursday next week, looking to find some more road game magic after beating George Rogers Clark two weeks ago.

HC Girls' Soccer Rebounds from empty road trip with mercy rule win
Just days after losing back to back games in Tennessee, the HC Girls' Soccer Team responded with a 10-0 mercy rule win over Bryan Station at home on Wednesday. The win brings the Lady Devils to 7-2-2 on the season. With just 5 games to play, HC is tied for first in Region 13 play and have the outright lead in District 26. The remaining schedule for HC is as follows: vs West Jessamine, vs Bishop Brossart (at Tates Creek), vs George Rogers Clark, vs Tates Creek, at Paul Laurence Dunbar.
HC Volleyball first to 20 wins in Region 11
Thanks to a quick 11-0 run to start the season, the Henry Clay Girls' Volleyball Team have become the first team to reach 20 wins this season in Region 11. The start was so impressive that the Devils hadn't even dropped a set until losing 3-0 to Assumption in their 12th game. HC is undefeated in Regional and District play. The only team even close to HC as far as overall record goes is Lafayette, who are currently 17-4 with 5 games to play. HC is 21-4 and have 4 games left on their regular season schedule. However, the rest of the regular season is in no means a cakewalk for the Lady Devils. They host DuPont Manual, Mercy, and North Oldham before ending their regular season at St. Henry. Needless to say, HC will have their hands full if they want to come out on top in Region 11. However, if the first part of the season is any indicator, it's so far so good for the Lady Devils.

Henry Clay 34, George Rogers Clark 14: The Drought is OVER
After a month of winless football, the Henry Clay Blue Devils can breathe at last. In a game that looked as if HC had little chance of changing the losing trend, the Devils turned in a solid performance on the road by upsetting George Rogers Clark 34-14. It looks like last year's "road warrior" team has finally come back to life. Henry Clay, now 1-4 on the season, come back home next week to play Lafayette on Friday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.

Devils dismantled at home by rivals Tates Creek
The 2011 Football season for the Henry Clay Blue Devils has started to take a negative trend. Last night, HC fans watched with dismay as a mediorce Tates Creek side came into Robert J. Bell stadium and walked out with a 21-14 win over Henry Clay. This marks the fourth straight loss for HC to start the season. While Henry Clay has slowly improved with each game, their schedule is in no way favoring the Blue Devils getting a win anytime soon. Their next three games are as follows: at George Rogers Clark, home against Lafayette, and at Madison Central. Stay tuned for more details. Blackout not enough for Devils' first win
Yet another week goes by without an HC Football victory. The Devils lost their third straight game last night 21-34 to the Pirates of Belfry High School. Unfortunately, the school's attempt to raise attendance through the "Blackout Belfry" T-Shirt Campaign was simply not enough to help HC pull out a win in their first home game. The first three quarters were very close, with Henry Clay equalizing on more than one occasion. However, after HC evened up the score at 21-21, Belfry answered with two quick scores. HC would not score for the remainder of the game. The 34-21 loss does give the Blue Devils something to build on, though. This is the first time that Henry Clay has remained competitive for the majority of a game, a stark contrast from their first to contests, where they were outscored by a combined total of 91-20. Henry Clay is back at home again next week. They take on 1-2 Tates Creek on Friday, September 9. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.

As an effort to psyche up the student body before Friday night's home football game against Belfry, Henry Clay is selling "Black Out Belfry' t-shirts. Just $5 will get students both a T-Shirt and a ticket to Friday's game. Will this mental spark be enough for the Blue Devils to upset Belfry? Stay tuned.

Dream Start for Lady Devils Soccer
The HC Girls Soccer Team is red hot so far in their 2011 regular season campaign. The Lady Devils are undefeated with a record of 4-0-1. HC started off the season by winning the FCPS iHigh Soccer Frenzy and only giving up two goals in the span of those three games. Their only blemish so far was a 0-0 draw at home against Lexington Catholic. However, the Lady Devils are still the only team in KHSAA Region 13 not to record a loss. As for the schedule ahead, Henry Clay plays three games in the Central Kentucky area before heading on a two game road trip to Tennessee. The Devils will play Father Ryan (Sep. 10) and Pope John Paul II (Sep. 11) on the trip before heading home to play Bryan Station at John G. Heber Field on September 21.

Henry Clay shows signs of life against dominant Bowling Green
It wasn't a completely negative night for the Henry Clay Football Team against the Bowling Green Purples in the 2011 FCPS iHigh Football Frenzy.
After falling behind 28-0 in the second half, the Blue Devils responded with two unanswered scoring drives to cut Bowling Green's lead in half. The Purples scored again to win 35-14.
Considering the fact that HC were absolutely dismantled 56-6 by John Hardin the week before, this is definitely a step in the right direction.
Henry Clay play Belfry at home next week. Belfry are 1-0 with a 34-7 win over Harrison County so far.
