Blackout not enough for Devils' first win
Yet another week goes by without an HC Football victory. The Devils lost their third straight game last night 21-34 to the Pirates of Belfry High School. Unfortunately, the school's attempt to raise attendance through the "Blackout Belfry" T-Shirt Campaign was simply not enough to help HC pull out a win in their first home game. The first three quarters were very close, with Henry Clay equalizing on more than one occasion. However, after HC evened up the score at 21-21, Belfry answered with two quick scores. HC would not score for the remainder of the game. The 34-21 loss does give the Blue Devils something to build on, though. This is the first time that Henry Clay has remained competitive for the majority of a game, a stark contrast from their first to contests, where they were outscored by a combined total of 91-20. Henry Clay is back at home again next week. They take on 1-2 Tates Creek on Friday, September 9. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
